Msheireb Properties, Qatar’s leading sustainable real estate developer, secured notable recognition at the Smart Built Environment Awards 2026, winning Gold in two categories and receiving an Award of Excellence from the Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU). The awards ceremony took place on October 15 at Palazzo Versace Dubai.

Msheireb Museums was honored with the Innovation in Architecture award for its restoration of four heritage houses located in Doha’s oldest district: Bin Jelmood House, Company House, Mohammed Bin Jassim House, and Radwani House. These houses were restored in accordance with international conservation standards, employing carefully selected materials to maintain the original building techniques and spirit. The project highlights Qatar’s social history within the context of the modern city.

Eng. Faisal Al Malki, chief operating officer of Msheireb Properties, was named Net-Zero Champion of the Year in recognition of his leadership in implementing a comprehensive decarbonization strategy across the company’s portfolio. The strategy is the first of its kind at this scale in Qatar, encompassing over 100 buildings, including approximately 800 residential units and 300 retail spaces. It aims to reduce emissions across all Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol scopes and aligns with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

This marks the second consecutive year Msheireb Properties has received the Innovation in Architecture award; last year they were recognized for the “Seven Principles” of Msheireb Downtown Doha, an architectural approach integrating Qatari cultural elements with sustainable design and modern technologies.

In addition to the Smart Built Environment Awards, the CVU, formerly the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, acknowledged Msheireb Downtown Doha with an Award of Excellence. The development was shortlisted as one of six finalists in the Urban Habitat category at the 2026 VU Summit held in London. Competing projects came from the United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, Singapore, and China. This year, the CVU’s Awards of Excellence honored 73 projects, concepts, and initiatives across 20 countries.

Eng. Faisal Al Malki described the accolades as a testament to the commitment of the teams involved in bringing Msheireb Downtown Doha to life. The recognitions affirm Msheireb Properties’ leading role in advancing sustainable urban development in Qatar.
