Msheireb Properties, a leading sustainable real estate developer in Qatar, has received multiple accolades recognizing its innovative and environmentally conscious efforts in urban development. The company secured two gold awards at the Smart Built Environment Awards 2026 and was also honored with an Award of Excellence from the Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU) for its flagship project, Msheireb Downtown Doha.
At the Smart Built Environment Awards ceremony held on October 15 at Palazzo Versace Dubai, Msheireb Properties earned the Innovation in Architecture award for Msheireb Museums, a cluster of four restored heritage houses in Doha’s oldest district. These houses—Bin Jelmood House, Company House, Mohammed Bin Jassim House, and Radwani House—have been refurbished to meet international conservation standards using materials and techniques that respect the original architecture. The museum complex aims to narrate Qatar’s social history within the context of a modern city. This marks the second consecutive year Msheireb Properties has won in the Innovation in Architecture category, following last year’s recognition for the “Seven Principles” architectural framework that integrates Qatari cultural elements with sustainable design and modern technology.
Additionally, Eng Faisal al-Malki, the company’s chief operating officer, was named Net-Zero Champion of the Year. This award acknowledges his leadership in implementing Msheireb Properties’ comprehensive decarbonization strategy, a pioneering initiative at this scale in Qatar. The strategy encompasses more than 100 buildings, including 800 residential units and 300 retail spaces, targeting emissions reductions across all three scopes of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. It is aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), underscoring the company’s commitment to measurable climate action. In a statement, al-Malki emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making and collaboration with tenants to achieve sustainable operational outcomes, highlighting how innovation and heritage preservation remain central to the company’s vision.
Separately, the CVU awarded Msheireb Downtown Doha an Award of Excellence and named it a finalist in the Urban Habitat category, putting it among projects from the United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, Singapore, and China. The recognition was presented earlier this week at the 2026 VD Summit in London. The CVU, formerly known as the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, honored a total of 73 projects, concepts, and initiatives from 20 countries with Awards of Excellence this year.
These multiple accolades reinforce Msheireb Properties’ position as a leader in sustainable urban development and heritage conservation, showcasing a model that bridges traditional architecture with cutting-edge sustainability practices.
