Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth (MSY) and the National Planning Council (NPC) have jointly launched the Qatar Youth Council for Future-Making, an initiative aimed at enhancing youth engagement in national policymaking and long-term strategic planning. The council is intended to serve as a dedicated platform for dialogue on issues relevant to Qatari youth, contributing to the formulation of youth policies and programs aligned with the country’s development goals.

The launch event and inaugural meeting took place yesterday, with the attendance of HE Dr Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak al-Khalifa, Secretary-General of the NPC, and HE Engineer Yasser bin Abdullah al-Jamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, alongside council members and representatives from both institutions.

During the session, participants reviewed the council’s objectives and outlined its responsibilities, emphasizing the need to identify key youth priorities over the near term. Discussions also focused on establishing effective operational mechanisms and expanding youth participation by building a national network of young leaders. This network is expected to anticipate future developments and contribute to sustainable development and prosperity aligned with Qatar’s broader strategic vision.

HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, described the council’s establishment as a reflection of Qatar’s national vision, which places young people at the center of the country’s developmental trajectory. He underscored the government’s confidence in the youth’s abilities and their critical role as active partners in shaping the present and future. According to Sheikh Hamad, investing in youth is synonymous with investing in the nation’s long-term prosperity.

The minister further emphasized the ministry’s commitment to creating effective avenues where young Qataris can voice their views, present their ideas, and engage in discussions on matters of national importance. He highlighted the council’s role as a forum for constructive exchange and a bridge between youth aspirations and policymaker agendas, thereby enhancing contributions to sustainable development and supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives.

HE Dr Abdulaziz al-Khalifa noted that the initiative aims to empower young people by involving them directly in development processes rather than relegating them to the execution of pre-set plans. He positioned the Qatar Youth Council for Future-Making as a pivotal first step in enabling youth to influence policy formulation consistent with national strategic goals.

HE Engineer Yasser al-Jamal described the council as an embodiment of the leadership’s vision for youth empowerment. He stressed its role in transitioning young people from mere participation to having a meaningful impact on policymaking and future planning. By drawing on the energy and creativity of youth, the council is intended to foster innovative solutions addressing the country’s upcoming challenges.
