Ukrainian forward Mykhailo Mudryk has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Chelsea following the conclusion of his doping suspension. The 25-year-old winger’s move was confirmed by both London clubs on Tuesday, with the transfer marking a fresh chapter in Mudryk’s career after a challenging period.

Mudryk is set to reunite with Roberto De Zerbi, his former coach at Shakhtar Donetsk, who assumed managerial duties at Tottenham in March. De Zerbi expressed optimism about the forward’s potential impact, emphasizing his commitment to helping Mudryk reach his best form. “I will demand a lot from Misha and it is our job to help him find the best version of himself. If we do that, then he can become a very important player for us,” De Zerbi said in a Tottenham statement. He also expressed enthusiasm about working together again, welcoming Mudryk to the club.

The Football Association cleared Mudryk to resume playing in late July after the Ukrainian forward and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) reached an agreement that led to the withdrawal of his appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Mudryk was initially suspended for four years after testing positive for a low concentration of meldonium, a banned substance, following a 2024 drug test.

Since the end of his suspension, Mudryk has made a brief pre-season appearance for Chelsea but has yet to feature in the Premier League this season. The forward, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported £62 million in January 2023, last played an official competitive match in November 2024.

The loan move to Tottenham presents an opportunity for Mudryk to regain his form and consistency under the guidance of a familiar coach. Both Chelsea and Tottenham appear hopeful that the arrangement will benefit all parties, providing the player with the platform to rebuild his career.
