The Mumbai High Court has sharply criticized the police investigation into a case involving a forged court order, expressing frustration over what it described as the investigative authorities’ failure to act despite clear evidence. The court’s comments came during proceedings in the matter against advocate Vinaykumar Khatu, who stands accused of preparing a counterfeit High Court order.

The bench condemned the police for the lack of progress in the case, branding their efforts as irresponsible and ineffective. The forged order was produced for examination following allegations that Khatu fabricated the document in connection to the ongoing legal dispute.

In response to the court’s concerns, senior police officials from the Azad Maidan police station have been directed to conduct a thorough inquiry focusing on the accused’s WhatsApp communications. The investigation is to be completed with a detailed report submitted to the court by June 15.

The High Court clarified that it will consider Khatu’s request for bail only after receiving and reviewing the police report. The court’s intervention highlights growing judicial impatience with the investigation’s pace and a demand for accountability from law enforcement agencies in handling cases involving legal forgery and professional misconduct.
