Amid ongoing concerns regarding the quality and standards of municipal schools, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools have demonstrated notable academic performance in the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination results. According to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education’s March 2026 announcement, 77 out of 246 BMC secondary schools recorded a 100 percent pass rate, contributing to an overall success rate of 92.08 percent across all municipal schools.

A total of 15,903 students from BMC schools appeared for the SSC examinations, with 14,644 students successfully passing. Additionally, 66 students scored above 90 percent, reinforcing the schools’ standing in terms of academic quality and merit-based achievements.

This year’s results highlight a sustained improvement and showcase the municipal schools’ ability to maintain competitive academic standards amid persistent scrutiny about their educational quality. The outcome reflects both the effectiveness of instructional efforts and the students’ commitment in the municipal school system.
