The Municipal Council of Kuwait approved several key proposals during its session on Monday, including the allocation of land for a new Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Treatment Center and adjustments to land use in various locations.
The council granted the Ministry of Health's request to allocate a 20,000-square-meter site in the Granada area for establishing the MS treatment facility. This decision was made under the chairmanship of Abdullah Al-Muhairi.
In addition, the council approved the final reorganization of a portion of Plot No. 1 in the Diplomatic Quarter. The 6,000-square-meter area will be subdivided into six smaller plots, each measuring 1,000 square meters, to facilitate future development.
The Ministry of Interior’s request to modify a previous council decision regarding the headquarters of the Mounted Police and Camel Corps in the Central Region was also approved. The site, currently spanning 75,000 square meters, will be expanded to approximately 102,000 square meters.
The council sanctioned amendments to Articles 2 and 8 of Ministerial Resolution No. 322 of 2023, which relate to the subdivision of land designated for construction, although specific details of these amendments were not disclosed.
Further, the Ministry of Health received approval for the allocation of a plot within the Shuwaikh Industrial Area to conduct pest and rodent control services.
The Ministry of Public Works obtained permission to establish an entrance and exit for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy site located near the Sulaibikhat Cemetery.
In a move aimed at streamlining administrative processes, the council approved the standardization of fees for administrative certificates issued to employees across all government entities.
Additionally, the council endorsed a proposal to allow licensing of various commercial activities within government buildings, including hospitals. Approved commercial activities include cafes, snack bars, printing and photocopying centers, ATMs, and flower and confectionery shops, intended to enhance services for employees and visitors.
These approvals represent part of ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and improve service delivery across Kuwait’s government sectors.
