Spanish authorities have arrested former Brookside actor Philip Foster in connection with a murder investigation in Torrevieja, on the Costa Blanca. Foster, 51, who is wanted by British law enforcement, had fled the United Kingdom last year prior to serving a prison sentence related to a large-scale fraud and money laundering scheme.

Foster, known for his role as Christian Wright in the British soap opera Brookside, was apprehended by armed police during the ongoing inquiry into an unrelated murder case. At the time of his arrest, authorities discovered multiple counterfeit identification documents and thousands of euros in his possession. Spanish officials confirmed that upon verifying his identity, they learned Foster was wanted by UK authorities.

He had previously been sentenced in absentia by Sheffield Crown Court to 8½ years in prison for orchestrating a £13 million fraud targeting aspiring models. The scam, described by National Trading Standards as a “cruel con,” left thousands of victims in significant debt. Foster had absconded to Spain before serving his sentence.

Currently, Foster remains in custody in Spain as extradition procedures are underway to return him to the UK where he is expected to serve the remainder of his sentence. Authorities have not provided further details linking Foster to the murder investigation, indicating that his arrest was a result of the broader operation rather than a direct connection to the homicide under investigation.
