A military air strike on a village in central Myanmar killed 11 people, including six women and two children, according to a rebel fighter. The attack occurred on Friday at approximately 2:00 p.m. in Yesagyo township, located southwest of Mandalay city, an area controlled by the People's Defence Forces (PDF), a prominent rebel group opposing the military.

Bo Paw, a member of the PDF, provided the casualty details, noting that among the dead was a one-year-old child who had just begun walking. A witness who declined to be named for security reasons described the scene, saying three houses along the roadside were completely destroyed by the strike. The witness added that all occupants, including an 11-year-old student who was riding a bicycle at the time, were killed instantly.

The Myanmar military was not immediately available for comment on the incident. The air strike comes amid ongoing civil conflict that erupted following the 2021 military coup, which ousted the elected government led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. Since then, the country has been engulfed in violence between the military and various armed groups, including the PDF and ethnic minority armies that have long resisted central control.

According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), more than 100,000 people have died as a result of the civil war. While the PDF initially made considerable advances against the military, recent reports suggest that their forces have suffered setbacks around Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city. The ongoing conflict continues to destabilize the region, with no immediate resolution in sight.
