Myanmar’s national women’s football team has departed for Japan to participate in the women’s football tournament at the 2026 Asian Games. The team left on the evening of September 10, preparing to compete against several regional opponents in Osaka.

Head coach Colin Bell confirmed the final 23-player roster on September 9. Key players Yoon Wady Hlaing, a winger from Yangon United; Khin Mo Mo Tun, a midfielder from Thitsar Arman; and defender Nan Phyu Phway from Ayeyawady FC were excluded due to injuries. Additionally, forward San Thaw Thaw, who had recently rejoined the team following the AFC Women’s Champions League qualifiers, was released from the squad for medical treatment as her ongoing injury required further attention.

Myanmar is drawn into Group B alongside South Korea, North Korea, and Bangladesh. All group stage matches will take place at Nagai Stadium in Osaka. The team’s first match is scheduled against South Korea at 5 p.m. Myanmar Standard Time on September 14. This will be followed by a game against North Korea at 5 p.m. on September 17 and a final group match against Bangladesh at 1:30 p.m. on September 21.

The women’s football competition at the Asian Games features 12 teams divided into three groups. The tournament format advances the top two teams from each group along with the two best third-placed teams to the quarter-finals, creating a field of eight teams moving forward. Myanmar’s squad will look to secure one of these spots as they begin their campaign in Osaka.
