Myleene Klass experienced a frightening breast cancer scare after discovering two lumps while attending Wimbledon earlier this year. The 48-year-old presenter and singer described the period of waiting for test results as both swift and agonizing, leading her to reassess her priorities.
Klass, a mother of three, shared that the lumps were initially found by chance as she folded her arms during a tennis match. Subsequent medical examinations revealed three cysts and three lymph nodes, but ultimately she was given the all-clear. Reflecting on the experience, she noted the emotional toll of waiting and the adjustment involved in returning to daily life after receiving reassurance.
The former pop star, who rose to fame with the band Hear’Say in 2001 and won the inaugural “I’m A Celebrity” all-stars edition, posted a photograph showing her breast marked with crosses prior to her scans to encourage women to monitor their health closely. She stressed the importance of self-examination and seeking medical advice promptly.
Klass cited her personal connection to women’s health issues, recalling the trauma of four previous miscarriages. She has campaigned successfully to change policies that demanded women experience three consecutive pregnancy losses before qualifying for medical support and was awarded an MBE for her advocacy efforts.
Recounting the experience of undergoing recent scans, Klass said it evoked memories of earlier ultrasounds during her miscarriages, describing both as sobering moments. She expressed concern for friends currently facing similar health challenges and highlighted the profound fear that comes with potential illness, especially for parents.
Klass praised her manager, Severine Berman, for facilitating swift access to medical care during her ordeal. She urged women without similar support to use her story as a prompt to conduct regular self-checks and seek second opinions where necessary.
