The Myanmar Youth Stars (MYS) has launched a video competition to commemorate International Youth Day 2026, aiming to highlight young people’s creativity and bring attention to key issues affecting youth in the country. The contest invites participants to produce short videos under the theme “Youth creativity has the power to spark change.”

Entries may be created using smartphones, cameras, or generative AI tools and should address topics such as relationship abuse, domestic violence, HIV awareness, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), Chemsex, the concept of Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U), as well as discrimination related to sexual and mental health issues. Contestants are encouraged to reflect on the experiences of young people in contemporary Myanmar.

Videos must be between 1.5 and 3 minutes in length. Participants are required to post their entries on Facebook with the caption “International Youth Day: Our Voice. Our Right. Our Future” alongside the hashtags #internationalyouthdaymyanmar, #myanmar, and #iyd2026. They must then submit the video link in the comments of the competition announcement on the MYS Facebook page.

The competition offers cash prizes of 500,000 kyat for first place, 300,000 kyat for second, and 200,000 kyat for third. The deadline for submissions is midnight on August 8, with winners set to be announced the following day via the Myanmar Youth Stars Official Facebook page.

Selected entries will be showcased during the International Youth Day celebration on August 12, where winners will also receive their awards. This initiative is part of MYS’s broader efforts to engage young people in social issues and empower them to contribute to positive change through creative expression.
