A woman from Bournemouth was surprised to discover she was pregnant just one day before giving birth to her son. Sammy Evans, 41, initially sought medical advice after noticing a hard lump beneath her ribcage. When she visited her general practitioner, she was informed that the bump might be related to a urinary tract infection.
Evans, who had attributed her lack of menstruation over several months to perimenopause, began experiencing severe pain the following morning and went to the hospital. During the visit on September 15, medical staff performed an ultrasound, revealing the unexpected presence of a baby. Within five hours, Evans delivered an 8-pound 1-ounce baby boy named Noah.
Evans described the moment the doctor conducted the ultrasound: as the scan progressed, he identified the baby’s leg, arm, and back. Her partner, Triston McKend, 38, was equally surprised by the news, recounting the shock he felt upon receiving a text from Evans informing him that she was in labor.
The couple already had two children prior to Noah’s birth. Sammy Evans works at Asda, a supermarket chain, and the sudden arrival of her son came as an unanticipated event for the family.
