A nail salon in Singapore has introduced a new line of nail designs inspired by the South Korean boy band BigBang, capitalizing on renewed interest following the group’s recent activities. Chio Studio, located in the Havelock 2 shopping centre, launched the BigBang-themed collection in September, offering a variety of custom press-on nail designs that have attracted a growing number of customers.

Stacey Law, 34, the owner and lead artist at Chio Studio, said that the surge in K-pop-themed nail art requests intensified after popular groups like Exo and Seventeen performed in Singapore this year. Drawing on her personal connection to the band, having grown up listening to BigBang’s music and watching their variety shows, Law said the collection was inspired by the group’s recent comeback, which she described as a “rare occasion.”

The designs are based on BigBang’s light stick, posters, and albums, and the studio offers customers dozens of options to choose from. Prices for the customised press-on nails range from S$39.90 to S$49.90. To ensure a proper fit, the studio measures clients’ nails precisely down to the millimetre. Customers then apply the nails themselves at home. Along with the press-ons, buyers receive free memorabilia such as BigBang stickers, temporary tattoos, or keychains.

The new range has attracted not only loyal fans but also many first-time nail salon customers. Some have seen the nails as a way to celebrate attending BigBang’s concerts, with one customer even saying she planned to frame the press-on nails as a keepsake. The appeal also extends beyond women; several men have requested designs inspired by G-Dragon, one of the band’s prominent members.

Law noted that most of her clientele are millennials, a demographic she identified as having significant spending power. The introduction of BigBang-themed nail art reflects a broader trend of K-pop influencing beauty and fashion markets worldwide.
