Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, has launched a series of humanitarian and development projects in Benin with a total investment exceeding KD 15,000. The initiative aims to address the challenging living conditions faced by many residents amid inadequate public services and increasing poverty.
According to Khaled Mubarak Al-Shammri, head of the charity’s Development and Relief Sector, the programs combine immediate relief efforts with longer-term empowerment measures. The relief component involved distributing 400 food baskets and meat from 12 calves to enhance food security among vulnerable populations. Additionally, the charity facilitated 200 eye surgeries, a key intervention that has helped restore vision for numerous patients in the region.
Beyond emergency aid, Namaa Charity supported income-generating activities by providing beneficiaries with dairy cows and sewing machines, enabling families to establish sustainable livelihoods. Al-Shammri emphasized that this dual approach reflects the organization’s commitment to both alleviating immediate suffering and fostering economic self-reliance.
The projects were implemented in response to urgent humanitarian needs recognized in parts of Benin, where services remain insufficient and poverty is on the rise. Al-Shammri confirmed that Namaa Charity plans to continue similar work in countries facing critical needs, relying on financial support from donors in Kuwait to sustain its operations.
