Naoussa, a picturesque village on the Cycladic island of Paros, continues to attract visitors with its blend of traditional charm and modern attractions. Nestled along a scenic harbor, Naoussa offers a combination of whitewashed alleyways adorned with bougainvillea, boutique shops, and a vibrant dining scene set against the backdrop of fishing boats and historic architecture.
One of the village's standout features is the 15th-century Venetian Castle, whose partially submerged ramparts provide a striking photo opportunity, especially during early morning and sunset hours. Beyond Naoussa, the island of Paros presents a varied coastline, including well-known spots such as Kolymbithres Beach, famed for its unusual rock formations, and the clear waters of Monastiri and Santa Maria beaches.
Visitors interested in exploring inland can visit Paros’ traditional villages like Lefkes, Prodromos, and Marpissa. These settlements offer a quieter glimpse into island life, with Lefkes, the island’s former capital, perched in pine-covered hills and offering sweeping views across white rooftops and the Aegean Sea.
A short seven-minute ferry ride from Naoussa leads to the neighboring island of Antiparos. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and less tourist traffic, Antiparos is prized for its secluded coves and relaxed tavernas, providing a more understated alternative to Paros’ busier spots.
Naoussa is also becoming recognized for its culinary offerings. Sigi Ikthios, situated on the waterfront, is noted for its seafood dishes, including crayfish and shrimp orzo. Additionally, Ragoussis bakery, a family-run establishment renowned for traditional pastries, remains a popular choice for breakfast among visitors.
For nightlife and evening relaxation, several bars along the harbor provide varied atmospheres. Waterfront establishments such as Come Back and Fotis All Day Bar offer casual settings to enjoy cocktails. Later into the night, venues like Linardo on the harbor jetty and Barbarossa, known for its DJ sets and lively crowd, attract those seeking a more energetic social scene.
Looking ahead, Naoussa will soon welcome the opening of the Méros hotel, a 26-room boutique property located in a prime position overlooking the sea. Set to launch next month, the hotel features whitewashed architecture combined with natural materials and light-filled interiors. It includes an all-day Mediterranean bistro called Sunset and a landscaped garden with a pool. Accommodation rates start at approximately £190 per night bed and breakfast, managed as part of the Santikos Collection.
