Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay has successfully undergone corrective heart surgery to address a minor cardiac condition. The Scotland international was diagnosed with a mild benign arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat considered non-serious and not posing significant health risks.

The 29-year-old underwent an ablation procedure at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday morning, a process aimed at correcting the abnormal heart rhythm. Napoli confirmed the operation was entirely successful and stated that McTominay would require two weeks of rest before resuming training.

The club had previously announced McTominay’s expected absence, indicating he would be unavailable until after the upcoming international break. As a result, McTominay will miss Napoli’s Champions League opener against Arsenal as well as the first four matches under new Scotland manager Sebastien Pocognoli.

McTominay, formerly of Manchester United, is expected to return to full training shortly after the prescribed recovery period, with no further health concerns reported.
