The Nassau County Legislature is scheduled to consider a series of proposed ordinances during its upcoming session on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Peter J. Schmitt Memorial Legislative Chamber, located on the first floor of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building at 1550 Franklin Avenue in Mineola, New York.

Among the ordinances slated for review are several supplemental appropriations affecting key county departments. These include additional funding for the Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, Office of the County Clerk, Board of Elections, Office of Crime Victim Advocate, and the Health Department. Another ordinance proposes adjustments to certain departmental budgets through transfers of previously allocated appropriations.

In addition to budgetary matters, the Legislature will consider an ordinance related to the acquisition of real property from the Town of Oyster Bay. This measure involves the acceptance of an offer of purchase for parcels located in the hamlet of Old Bethpage, identified on the county’s land and tax map as Section 47, Block E, Lots 749D, 749E, and 766. The ordinance authorizes the County Executive to execute all necessary documents, including deeds and contracts, to finalize the transaction following determinations under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.

Copies of the proposed ordinances are available for public inspection during regular business hours at the Office of the Clerk of the Nassau County Legislature.

The legislative chamber has a maximum occupancy limit of 251 people, with an additional 71 allowed in the adjoining antechamber, as established by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office. Members of the public wishing to address the Legislature must submit a written request in advance to the Clerk’s office. Public comments are restricted to three minutes per speaker. During full Legislature meetings, comments can be made during both the pre-calendar period and designated public hearings, while in committee meetings, public remarks are limited to agenda items and must occur before the first committee is called.
