Nassau County’s Department of Public Works has announced plans to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking engineering firms to provide on-call design services for the county’s environmental facilities. The initiative, outlined in a legal notice dated June 17, 2026, aims to address a range of issues related to facility evaluation, troubleshooting, and the development of corrective measures.
The selected firm will be responsible for delivering comprehensive design services, including the preparation of detailed contract drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates suitable for public bidding, upon approval of their recommendations by the county. This engagement is intended to provide flexible, as-needed support for the maintenance and improvement of Nassau County’s environmental infrastructure.
Proposals are due by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Submissions must include both technical and cost components and be submitted in sealed form to the location specified in the forthcoming RFP documentation. Late proposals will not be accepted. Interested parties are reminded that the official RFP and related addenda are available online through Nassau County’s Vendor Portal, accessible only to registered vendors. Vendors must complete the county’s vendor registration process to download solicitation documents and submit proposals.
The county requires the selected engineering firm to carry general liability insurance with minimum coverage of $2 million in aggregate and professional liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence.
Respondents must also demonstrate compliance with Nassau County’s local laws aimed at promoting participation by minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBE) as well as service-disabled veteran-owned businesses (SDVOB). Specifically, a good faith effort to meet a minimum 6% SDVOB participation goal is mandated under Local Laws No. 14-2002 and 2-2016. Proposals should include a MWBE Utilization Plan and detail strategies for adherence to these legal requirements.
Questions regarding the RFP are to be submitted by email no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Inquiries should be directed to Pasquale Assalone, P.E., with copies sent to Rosemary Perfetti at the Department of Public Works. The county will not conduct a site visit since the services are on-call and will be performed as directed.
This solicitation marks another step in Nassau County’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve its environmental facilities infrastructure through expert engineering support on an as-needed basis.
