Musician Nate Amos has released his second solo album, *The Singer in My Band*, drawing heavily on his bluegrass roots and American folk traditions. The album arrives on Friday through Matador Records, marking a departure from the electronic experimentation of his earlier work toward a more acoustic, twang-inflected sound shaped by his upbringing and extensive touring.

Amos, who also performs as one half of the indie duo Water From Your Eyes, wrote much of *The Singer in My Band* while on the road. The record reflects a “road record” sensibility, blending roaming harmonies and songwriting inspired by the great American songbook with elements of bluegrass, a genre tied closely to his childhood. His father was a bluegrass musician, and Amos has described his engagement with those musical influences as feeling like a “sleeper agent being activated.”

Prior to this solo effort, Amos gained recognition within the indie music community for his project This Is Lorelei. His 2024 debut solo album, *Box for Buddy, Box for Star*, established him as a noteworthy songwriter, with artists such as MJ Lenderman, Jeff Tweedy, and members of Hayley Williams’s group Power Snatch covering his work. Meanwhile, Water From Your Eyes released *It’s a Beautiful Place* in 2025, extending Amos’s collaborative footprint.

On *The Singer in My Band*, Amos veers away from electronic sounds, opting instead for twangy guitars and straightforward songwriting. The lead single, “Billy Came Back,” offers a bittersweet character study, while tracks like “Oh No Now My” introduce more experimental approaches within the acoustic framework, a blend Amos describes as “a song that ate itself.” The album’s themes touch on personal reflection amid the pressures and expectations that come with growing attention, emphasizing a return to musical basics.

Complementing the album release, Amos will tour the UK and Ireland with This Is Lorelei from November 17 to 26, further showcasing his evolving solo material.
