High pressure will maintain dry and mild weather across much of the eastern United States today, with the exception of Florida, where thunderstorms are expected to persist. In contrast, a band of showers will extend from Kansas into western Illinois, bringing wetter conditions to parts of the Midwest.

Central and western Texas are facing ongoing heavy rain and thunderstorms, raising concerns over flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and poorly drained locations. The highest risk for flooding is concentrated in the western half of the state.

Further west, scattered showers and storms will affect much of the Southwestern region, with the possibility of snow mixing in across higher elevations of the Rocky Mountains. California is expected to experience continued cooler temperatures as this weather system moves through.
