Md Nuruzzaman Mintu, son of Natore-4 BNP lawmaker Md Abdul Aziz, has been taken into custody by the Detective Branch (DB) of police for questioning in connection with the death of a local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader. The incident occurred in Natore, Bangladesh, and the development was confirmed by DB Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam on Tuesday.

Mintu was detained from his residence in Gurudaspur on Monday night. While police have confirmed that he is in custody for interrogation, they emphasized that he has not been formally arrested.

The investigation centers on the death of Md Shakil Islam, 30, who served as the joint general secretary of the JCD's Gurudaspur upazila unit. Shakil was assaulted by a group of attackers wearing helmets in the Chachkoir Bazarpara area on October 14. Following the attack, he was taken to the upazila health complex in critical condition and later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, Shakil was then moved to PG Hospital at Bangladesh Medical University in Dhaka for further treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Shakil succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital on Monday night. The police continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the attack and Shakil’s subsequent death.
