At least 10 people lost their lives and more than 20 others were injured after a sudden flash flood struck Weiyuan County in Gansu province. The flood occurred yesterday, triggered by intense rainfall that swept through the area, local authorities reported.

The incident affected a scenic area popular with tourists, where several individuals camping were caught off guard by the rapid rise in water levels. Vehicles and a small building were swept away by the powerful floodwaters, compounding the danger faced by those in the vicinity.

In response, emergency services mobilized swiftly, deploying 305 rescue workers and 68 vehicles to the scene. Rescue teams have been conducting search and recovery operations in an effort to locate missing persons and assist those injured.

Efforts continue as officials assess the full extent of the damage caused by the flood, which came amid ongoing heavy rainfalls across parts of Gansu province.
