The National Basketball Association (NBA) has formalized new partnerships with prediction market platforms Kalshi and Polymarket, designating them as the league’s preferred providers for NBA-related prediction markets. These agreements are intended to bolster the integrity of wagering around NBA events by implementing safeguards designed to prevent manipulation and ensure transparency.
Under the terms of the deals, Kalshi and Polymarket will operate with specific restrictions on the types of predictions they can offer related to NBA games and outcomes. The agreements also require heightened transparency measures, including the monitoring of unusual betting behavior, enabling the league to detect and address suspicious activity more effectively. Notably, individuals employed by the NBA or connected to the league will be prohibited from trading on these platforms when it pertains to NBA events, a measure aimed at preventing conflicts of interest.
These integrity measures are consistent with the NBA’s existing protocols with its sportsbook partners. The league has maintained similar guardrails to protect the fairness of wagers placed through established sportsbooks. Alongside its partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket, the NBA is expanding its relationship with operators such as DraftKings to encompass prediction markets as well.
The league’s move to tighten oversight of prediction markets follows earlier restrictions implemented this season targeting specific forms of wagering on NBA games. By extending these agreements and enforcing transparent operational standards, the NBA aims to safeguard the credibility of markets associated with the league while supporting the growth of legal and regulated sports betting.
