North Carolina State University has dismissed head football coach Dave Doeren after 14 seasons leading the Wolfpack. The decision came following a loss to Stanford that dropped N.C. State’s record to 3-4 for the season. The university officially announced the coaching change on Saturday.
Doeren, 54, concludes his tenure as the program’s all-time leader in wins, having accumulated a 98-74 record since assuming the head coach position. Despite this achievement, the team struggled to reach sustained higher levels of success, prompting the university’s decision to make a change.
Todd Goebbel, who serves as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator, has been appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the current season as the program searches for a permanent successor.
