The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) in Kuwait has outlined plans to resume theatrical performances under strict safety protocols, signaling a gradual revival of artistic activities after a temporary suspension. The announcement followed an expanded meeting held at Al-Shamiya Theater on Tuesday, chaired by Musaed Al-Zamel, Assistant Secretary-General for the Arts Sector.

The session gathered key stakeholders, including leaders of amateur theatre groups, representatives from artistic production companies, producers, performers, and officials responsible for performance licensing, censorship, and compliance. The discussions centered on establishing an operational framework that aligns with governmental guidelines and ensures the regulated and safe presentation of theatrical works.

Al-Zamel emphasized the necessity of full adherence to security and safety measures to protect both audiences and theatre professionals. He highlighted the ongoing importance of complying with existing laws and regulations related to artistic endeavors, while also considering specific observations from regulatory authorities concerning performances intended for adults and children.

The Council’s approach aims to foster an environment conducive to high-quality theatrical productions, enhancing the cultural landscape of Kuwait. Al-Zamel reiterated NCCAL’s commitment to supporting theatre groups, helping them meet professional standards and fulfill audience expectations in a manner that respects the country's artistic heritage and regulatory requirements.

This initiative represents a coordinated effort by cultural authorities and artistic communities to carefully navigate the challenges associated with reopening public venues, prioritizing health and safety while reviving one of Kuwait’s key cultural expressions.
