The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) in Oman announced the launch of three significant initiatives aimed at advancing the country’s digital transformation and supporting the objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040. The announcement was made on June 24 during a ceremony held at the Grand Millennium Muscat.

The initiatives introduced include the interactive “Atraj” application, the Coordination Portal for the State Administrative Apparatus, and the Central Data Warehouse Project. Each is designed to improve Oman’s data infrastructure, promote institutional collaboration, and enhance evidence-based policymaking.

Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of NCSI, emphasized that these efforts reflect the organisation’s ongoing dedication to enhancing the national statistical and information system. He highlighted the role of modern technologies in fostering statistical literacy and facilitating better decision-making processes.

A key element among the new projects is the Coordination Portal, envisioned as a secure digital platform to bolster communication and cooperation between government entities. The portal will facilitate the sharing of diverse resources such as reports, publications, studies, and survey results, thereby improving the exchange of knowledge and institutional insight across public sector organisations. NCSI officials noted that the platform aims to optimise the use of data and indicators, enabling government bodies to develop policies grounded in reliable evidence.

The Central Data Warehouse Project constitutes a major component of Oman’s strategic digital transformation. This initiative aims to establish a unified national platform for data integration, management, and accessibility. According to Dr. al Barwani, the project will improve the consistency and quality of national data while enhancing its availability to decision-makers, researchers, and other stakeholders.

Together, these initiatives are positioned to strengthen the country's data ecosystem, facilitate institutional coordination, and support sustainable development objectives by leveraging comprehensive and accurate data. They mark a significant step towards meeting Oman’s long-term vision of digital advancement and informed governance.
