Neil Henderson, the Scottish guitarist known for his early work with the Bay City Rollers, has died at the age of 73. Henderson was a member of the band during their initial rise, playing on their 1971 debut hit "Keep on Dancing." He left the group in 1972 after a disagreement over the band’s musical direction, shortly before the Bay City Rollers achieved international success.

Following his departure, Henderson joined Middle of the Road, another Scottish band that gained prominence with their 1971 chart-topping single "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep." In a statement, Middle of the Road remembered Henderson as “our original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend.”

Henderson was born in Glasgow and had been battling health issues in recent years, including recovery from a stroke. The band extended their condolences to his two daughters, Heather and Shona, along with his family and friends. They noted that his legacy would endure through both his music and the memories shared by those who knew him.
