SNK is set to revive its iconic NeoGeo console with the launch of the NeoGeo AES+ edition this November, aiming to bring the classic 1990s gaming experience back to modern audiences. The original NeoGeo gained acclaim for delivering arcade-quality gameplay directly to home consoles, featuring titles such as Metal Slug, Fatal Fury, and The King of Fighters.
The new NeoGeo AES+ promises to maintain the fidelity and authenticity that made the original platform a standout among retro gaming enthusiasts. The console is designed to replicate the look, feel, and performance of the 1990s model, while offering full compatibility with original cartridge games. This approach aligns with SNK’s commitment to “zero compromise” gaming, ensuring the experience resonates with longtime fans as well as new players seeking authentic retro gameplay.
Launching alongside the redesigned console will be a curated collection of 10 classic games, including Big Tournament Golf, Shock Troopers, and Magician Lord, with plans for additional titles to be introduced later. SNK has partnered with publisher Plaion to facilitate the project, signaling a renewed effort to celebrate the NeoGeo’s legacy during the holiday season.
The NeoGeo AES+ will be available in two versions: the Standard Edition and the 35th Anniversary Edition. Both editions are scheduled for release on November 12, with pre-orders open now. The Standard Edition is priced at £179.99, while the premium 35th Anniversary Edition will retail for £269.99. This launch targets collectors and gamers looking to revisit or newly experience the distinct arcade-style gameplay the NeoGeo series became famous for over three decades ago.
