BALTIMORE — Zach Neto's three-run home run in the third inning propelled the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in the final game of their series on Thursday afternoon at Camden Yards.

The scoring began when Wade Meckler singled on a ground ball that Orioles starting pitcher Brandon Young overthrew at first base, allowing Meckler to advance to second. Nolan Schanuel followed with a walk, setting the stage for Neto’s decisive 411-foot homer over the center-field wall. The Angels added an insurance run in the seventh inning when Schanuel hit a sacrifice fly, driving in Meckler to make the final score 4-1.

On the mound, Angels starter Ryan Johnson pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while issuing five walks and recording one strikeout. He was relieved by Mitch Farris in the fifth inning, who earned the win after striking out two and walking one over one inning of work. Samy Natera Jr. closed out the game, securing his second save by striking out two batters in the final 1 1/3 innings.

For Baltimore, Brandon Young started and took the loss, pitching 4 1/3 innings and allowing six hits, striking out four while walking two. The Orioles' lone run came in the third inning from Yohel Pozo, who hit his first home run with Baltimore since being claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals in July.

The Angels managed to salvage the series finale after earlier setbacks, with Neto’s homer serving as the key turning point in the contest. The game highlighted contributions from both pitching staffs but was ultimately decided by timely offense from Los Angeles.
