The New England Revolution ended the Philadelphia Union’s 15-match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night in Chester, Pennsylvania. The win marked the Revolution’s third consecutive victory and moved them into second place in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference, edging past Inter Miami on the first tiebreaker of total wins.

Carles Gil played a pivotal role for New England, scoring his 13th goal of the season while also providing his 12th assist. Dor Turgeman added his 10th goal just before halftime, giving the Revolution a crucial lead heading into the break.

Philadelphia’s Neil Pierre scored a late consolation goal in the 12th minute of second-half stoppage time. Despite the goal, the Union were unable to find an equalizer and suffered their first defeat since May 24, when they lost 6-4 to Miami in the final match before the World Cup break.

Notably, he made a crucial sprawling save on Agustin Anello’s attempt in the 16th minute of stoppage time, preventing the Union from leveling the score. On the other end, Philadelphia’s Andre Blake also made six saves, keeping the Union competitive during a match in which they were often on the defensive.

Following the loss, the Union’s record stands at 13-11-7, with 46 points, placing them in sixth in the Eastern Conference. The Revolution improved to 17-10-4, reaching 55 points as they solidify their position near the top of the standings.
