Hundreds of students from New York City schools are set to attend the premiere of a new short film titled "What Is Dyslexia?" scheduled for the evening of October 1, 2026. The film, which features actors Liv Tyler and Jeremy Irons, was produced by the nonprofit organization Made By Dyslexia. The group aims to highlight the strengths and capabilities of individuals with dyslexia, shifting focus away from the difficulties often associated with the condition.
Following its New York debut, the film is planned to tour schools across all 50 states throughout the country. Made By Dyslexia has garnered support from a range of high-profile celebrities, including Cher, Whoopi Goldberg, Ed Sheeran, Orlando Bloom, Lewis Hamilton, Emma Grede, Barbara Corcoran, and Erin Brockovich. The organization intends for the film to serve as an educational tool to raise awareness and understanding among students and educators alike.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to promote positive perceptions of neurodiversity and educate the public about dyslexia’s varied manifestations. By emphasizing the diverse talents of individuals with dyslexia, Made By Dyslexia hopes to encourage inclusive learning environments and reduce stigma within the education system.
