Construction of a new care home in County Durham is nearing completion, with Bowburn Manor Care Home expected to begin admitting residents in early winter 2026. St Mary's Care Homes, the organisation managing the project, confirmed that the facility will create 85 jobs once fully operational, offering employment opportunities in care, hospitality, wellbeing, and support services.

The 73-bed care home is designed to provide residential, dementia, and respite care to families in County Durham and the wider North East region. The development aims to address growing demand for specialised care in the area, contributing to local economic growth through both job creation and enhanced healthcare provision.

Bowburn Manor Care Home will feature a range of on-site amenities intended to improve the quality of life for residents. These include a café, hair salon, dedicated activity spaces, a sports room, and landscaped gardens. Additionally, the home plans to implement a diverse programme of resident-led activities and events to encourage engagement and wellbeing.

Recruitment efforts for the new roles are scheduled to commence later this year, as the final stages of construction progress. The introduction of this facility reflects broader regional efforts to expand and modernise care services to meet the needs of an ageing population.
