Gillian Gilbert, keyboardist for the band New Order, has disclosed that she is battling cancer. The 65-year-old musician, known for her work since the 1980s and her earlier involvement with Joy Division, has not performed live since June. Her absence, alongside that of her husband and New Order drummer Stephen Morris, 68, was initially attributed by the band to “personal health reasons.”

Earlier reports suggested that Morris was facing health challenges, and he subsequently announced he would not attend the November induction of New Order and Joy Division into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, Gilbert clarified that these reports were incorrect and that she, not her husband, is the one living with cancer.

In a recent statement, Gilbert expressed appreciation for the support and kindness she has received during this time. The couple has worked together musically as The Other Two in addition to their roles in New Order.
