The Pentagon released a new batch of documents on Friday detailing recent unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings, marking the third such disclosure since former President Donald Trump directed his administration to share information on aerial phenomena. The 72 files provide additional descriptions of unusual objects reported by military personnel and federal agents, though they do not offer concrete evidence of extraterrestrial life or government concealment.

Among the more striking accounts is one from February 2022, when five U.S. Army soldiers at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs observed an unusual object hovering over nearby Cheyenne Mountain. According to an FBI report, the object was “potato”-shaped with defined edges and appeared coated in a creamy, opalescent color. Witnesses described the surface as composed of irregular, non-overlapping “articulating fish scales or panels.” The object remained motionless for about two minutes before disappearing suddenly. The soldiers, who had no phones at the time, were unable to capture any images or video.

Investigators who reviewed the sighting struggled to identify the phenomenon. The report, attributed to an unnamed intelligence community partner and heavily redacted, suggested with “low confidence” that the object might have been caused by light reflecting off snow and low clouds—specifically, “backscattering of sunlight” as the sun rose. However, the witnesses maintained that the sky was clear with no clouds or airborne objects such as balloons or aircraft present. The report also indicated that the object did not appear to be associated with foreign adversarial technology. The incident remains officially unresolved.

Another notable case documented in the release describes a series of sightings in October 2023 by six federal law enforcement agents. On several occasions, the agents reported observing a bright orange orb above a ridgeline that appeared to generate two to four smaller red orbs. Further details on this encounter were not immediately available in the released materials.

While the newly disclosed files add granular detail about these encounters, they fall short of providing definitive explanations or confirming the existence of alien activity. The Pentagon’s release continues to highlight the challenges faced by investigators in identifying unexplained aerial phenomena and reflects ongoing government efforts to collect and analyze such reports.
