SALALAH — The Ministry of Labour convened a meeting on Sunday with business owners and investors at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch in Dhofar Governorate to address challenges confronting the private sector. The session, led by Dr. Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour, focused on presenting proposals designed to modernize the labour system and improve service quality for enterprises.

The event was part of ongoing activities under the "Labour Forum 2026," which seeks to enhance collaboration between the public sector and private businesses by establishing open communication channels to discuss labour market issues. During the meeting, participants engaged in a dialogue titled "Strategic Dialogues and Shared Visions with the Private Sector for a Sustainable Labour Market."

Key topics included improving the effectiveness of employment and training programmes aimed at building the capabilities of the national workforce. Discussions highlighted the need to align these initiatives with evolving labour market demands and the economy’s rapid development. The ministry emphasized its commitment to fostering a sustainable labour market by empowering Omani nationals and adapting policies to meet private sector requirements.

The session marked a continuation of efforts to support economic diversification and strengthen public-private partnerships, reflecting Oman’s broader strategy to balance workforce nationalization while accommodating private sector growth.
