The Al Jazeera Centre for Studies has released a new book titled *Qatari Women and Sustainable Development: An Analysis of Roles and Institutional Frameworks*, authored by Dr. Al Anoud Ahmed al-Thani. The publication provides a detailed examination of the expanding role of Qatari women in the country’s sustainable development amid rapid modernization.

The study traces the evolving participation of women across education, the labor market, institutional involvement, and civic engagement, emphasizing the interplay between public policy and social change. It explores how shifts in societal norms and governance have reshaped gender roles within Qatar’s unique cultural and value-based environment.

A dedicated analysis offers insights into gender as a framework for understanding social role distribution in Qatar. The book outlines how the nation has pursued development strategies that balance modernization with preserving social cohesion and cultural identity. It credits this balance to focused policies on human capital investment, community engagement, educational advancement, and institutional capacity building.

Qatari journalist and writer Moza Abdulaziz al-Ishaq praised the publication, highlighting the strong partnership between men and women that has contributed to national progress. She noted that Qatari women today occupy senior leadership roles across public and private sectors and have become influential in fields such as entrepreneurship, politics, international diplomacy, academia, scientific research, medicine, and sports.

Al-Ishaq described the book as a rigorous academic work that offers a comprehensive analysis of women’s roles in various sectors, illustrating how their growing participation has driven social transformation alongside Qatar’s economic development. She further emphasized the centrality of women’s contributions to achieving the objectives outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Drawing on theoretical perspectives and empirical data, the study examines the institutional frameworks that have facilitated women’s increased involvement in diverse areas of Qatari society. It combines statistical evidence with key development indicators to provide a nuanced account of the significant shifts in women’s roles over recent decades and their critical contributions to the nation’s sustainable development agenda.
