The New York Yankees placed infielder Ryan McMahon on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to a throat infection. To fill the roster spot, the team recalled utility player Oswaldo Cabrera from their Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
The roster changes came ahead of the Yankees’ final game in a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers. McMahon’s status will be re-evaluated after the designated period on the injured list, while Cabrera is expected to provide additional depth and versatility to the infield and utility positions.
