Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has signaled that more player signings are likely this summer but emphasized that transfer decisions will be made collectively rather than solely by him. Speaking at the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain, Jaissle highlighted the involvement of sporting director Ross Wilson and CEO David Hopkinson in recruitment discussions, underlining the club’s focus on unity and transparency in its decision-making processes.

Jaissle, who took over from Eddie Howe, also noted that while current players will be given opportunities to impress during pre-season, some may still leave the squad before the new campaign begins. The manager described this period as transitional, particularly in light of the departures of key players Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, and Anthony Gordon, which he said represented a significant change for the team.

“We lost a couple of really important players and that has changed [things],” Jaissle said, adding that the club has a clear vision for success and is prioritizing hard work and progress during pre-season. He acknowledged the challenge this transition presents but expressed confidence in the squad and the club’s direction.

So far this summer, Newcastle have secured the signings of Bazoumana Toure, Aladji Bamba, Ewen Jaouen, Lukas Hornicek, and Sean Steur. Jaissle indicated that additional players are expected to join before the season starts, stating the club has the capacity to be active in the transfer market and that further additions should become evident when competitive matches begin.

On his personal ambitions, the German coach stressed his desire to push the team forward and get the best out of his players. “I have always got big ambitions. That is, I think, the key element for every coach, otherwise I would not be here,” Jaissle said. He focused on daily work and player development as priorities, aiming to foster growth and improvement as the squad adapts to changes.

Jaissle also expressed enthusiasm about officially joining the club and beginning his tenure at Newcastle, mentioning his excitement at being back with the team during the pre-season camp and looking forward to his journey ahead at St James’ Park.
