NFL official Larry Smith was forced to leave the field on a medical cart after sustaining an injury early in Houston Texans’ narrow 34-31 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London. The second-year referee slipped on the wet turf during the first quarter of the closely contested matchup.
The Texans secured their second consecutive win behind kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn, who successfully converted a 49-yard field goal in the closing moments to clinch the game. Quarterback CJ Stroud played a pivotal role for Houston, completing 312 passing yards and throwing three touchdowns. His scoring passes included one to wide receiver Jaylin Noel and two to tight end Foster Moreau.
Jacksonville dropped to 4-2 with the loss but maintained their lead in the AFC South division standings. Despite the Texans’ win, the Jaguars remain atop the division.
Separately, the NFL reaffirmed its commitment to proceed with Sunday’s scheduled international game in Paris, where the New Orleans Saints will face the Pittsburgh Steelers. The league’s decision comes amid ongoing violent protests across the French capital, which have raised concerns about the safety and logistics surrounding the event.
