ATLANTA — Tyler Huntley led the Baltimore Ravens to a 30-23 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Sunday Night Football on October 11, stepping up once again in place of the injured Lamar Jackson. Huntley’s performance proved pivotal as the Ravens rallied from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter, completing all 11 of his passes during the game-tying and game-winning drives. He threw one touchdown pass and added a rushing touchdown to seal the win.

Huntley, a seventh-year quarterback affectionately nicknamed “Snoop,” has now won all three games he has started this season in Jackson’s absence due to a left ankle injury. Jackson missed the second half of Baltimore’s previous victory over Tennessee and was unable to play Sunday night despite pushing for a return. The Ravens are optimistic the star quarterback could be back on the field by Week 6 against Cleveland.

Despite sitting out, Jackson remained actively involved during the game, communicating plays through the headset and providing guidance to Huntley on the sidelines. “That is probably the best thing you can have when you are coming off the field, just somebody who has been there before,” Huntley said. Jackson emphasized the importance of supporting his backup, telling Huntley to simply be himself and play confidently.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter praised Huntley’s composure under pressure, describing him as “one of the coolest dudes” who does not get rattled. Safety Kyle Hamilton, who recorded the game-sealing interception in overtime off Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, echoed those sentiments. Hamilton highlighted Huntley’s unique role and consistency, noting that when Huntley is on the field, it is a distinct style of play rather than typical backup quarterback performance.

Baltimore improved to 4-1 on the season, marking their best start since 2021. The victory underscored the value of having a reliable and mobile backup as injuries continue to affect NFL quarterbacks league-wide.

For the Falcons, the loss was compounded by the late exit of starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who left the game with a rib injury and missed the overtime period. Without Penix, Atlanta had to rely on backups and struggled to maintain offensive momentum. Tagovailoa’s interception in overtime was a crucial turning point, as the Falcons have faced challenges with their quarterback depth this season, including previous absences by Penix recovering from knee surgery.

Penix remains hopeful the injury is not serious, with an MRI scheduled to provide further evaluation. Meanwhile, Atlanta looks to regroup and find stability at the quarterback position as they search for a response to Baltimore’s resilient performance on Sunday.
