Kyle Monangai’s strong rushing performance helped the Chicago Bears secure a 20-9 victory over the New York Jets in their Week 4 NFL matchup on Sunday at Soldier Field. Monangai rushed for 146 yards and scored two touchdowns, as the Bears’ defense effectively contained the Jets’ offense throughout the game.

Chicago improved to 3-1 on the season, limiting New York to just seven first downs and 157 total yards while recording multiple sacks. Linebackers Devin Bush, Austin Booker, and Dayo Odeyingbo each registered a sack, contributing to the Bears' defensive dominance. Since a high-scoring opener against the Carolina Panthers, in which the Bears allowed 59 points, Chicago has tightened its defense considerably, conceding only 28 points over its last three games.

The Jets, now 1-3, managed to generate some offense late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Geno Smith connected with Isaiah Williams on a 58-yard touchdown pass. The score narrowed New York’s deficit to 11 points with just over nine minutes remaining. This marked Williams’s first career touchdown reception in his 27th NFL game. However, the Jets were unable to capitalize further after kicker Jason Sanders missed the extrapoint attempt following the touchdown.

Chicago then maintained possession for a lengthy 18-play, 77-yard drive that effectively ran down the clock and sealed the victory.

At the quarterback position, Chicago started the game with Case Keenum under center, who handed off on the first play to D’Andre Swift. The Bears then inserted Tyson Bagent after Caleb Williams was sidelined due to a right hamstring injury, marking Williams’s second consecutive game missed. Bagent completed 268 passing yards in relief.

Defensively, Minkah Fitzpatrick made a key impact with an interception in the second quarter, stepping in front of Jets receiver Colston Loveland to secure Chicago’s first takeaway of the game since Ashtyn Davis intercepted two passes in the 2024 season finale. Despite the Jets forcing multiple turnovers, three additional interceptions were negated by penalties, further hampering New York’s offensive rhythm.

The outcome underscored Chicago’s balanced approach with a potent running attack combined with an aggressive defense, contributing to the Jets’ third consecutive loss.
