New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) has issued an apology for its sponsorship of the Live Free Anarchist Book Fair held on October 10 in Hanover. The station acknowledged that accepting the invitation to support the event was a mistake, stressing its intention to remain neutral and avoid involvement in politically charged activities. NHPR also reported that its newsroom staff were not consulted or informed about the decision to participate in the event.
The book fair, organized by the Live Free Autonomy Collective, featured themes centered around radical ideas, collective care, and grassroots organizing. It was promoted as a platform to support left-wing activists who have been prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice as domestic terrorists in connection with a violent incident that took place in 2025 at an immigration facility in Texas. Among those convicted was an individual sentenced to 100 years for attempted murder. Supporters of the event argue that the government’s crackdown constitutes an infringement on free speech and amounts to the criminalization of political dissent.
Karlyn Boryzenko, a former NHPR marketing director and the Libertarian candidate for governor in 2022, attended the book fair undercover and subsequently urged NHPR to issue a formal apology for its involvement.
The incident has sparked discussion about the role of public radio stations in sponsoring events with political associations and the balance between supporting diverse viewpoints and maintaining editorial neutrality.
