Nick Reiner, who is currently awaiting trial on charges related to the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has been denied access to a family trust of approximately $1.6 million, of which he is the sole beneficiary. Reiner has been held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles since December 2025.

The trust, officially titled the “Nick Reiner Children’s Trust Dated December 2, 1993,” was established by his parents. Despite his status as sole beneficiary, Reiner’s legal representatives have stated that he has not received any funds from the trust, including the ability to withdraw even small amounts necessary to purchase basic items from the jail commissary.

In two legal filings submitted on September 17, Reiner’s attorneys, Anita P. Wu and Geoffrey A. Neri, responded to objections from successor trustee Jodi Pais Montgomery and former trustee Paul R. Kanin. They asserted that the delays in releasing funds owed to Reiner have prevented him from securing essential resources and have hindered his ability to hire new criminal defense counsel.

The attorneys emphasized that Reiner reached the age of 30 on September 14, 2023, which, according to the trustee’s own calculations, triggered the payment of at least $558,000 from the trust. Despite this, Reiner has yet to gain access to these funds.

The successor trustee and former trustee have not publicly commented on the legal dispute. The court filings outline the ongoing disagreement over the management and disbursement of the trust assets amid Reiner’s ongoing legal proceedings.
