Wathnan Racing aims to continue its strong summer form at Glorious Goodwood with two key contenders, Night Raider and Sea Of Kings, targeting victories in Thursday’s feature races. The Qatar-based operation, which enjoyed a successful Royal Ascot meeting with four winners, hopes to secure a second double of the week on the Sussex course.

Night Raider, entered in the King George Qatar Stakes at 3:35 p.m., looks to improve on last year’s sixth-place finish in the same contest. In that 2025 race, he raced on the stands side where he showed resilience by outperforming rivals on that part of the track, although the overall field on the opposite side proved stronger. This season, the horse has undergone gelding and has since demonstrated marked progress, winning his first two starts of the year. Despite a challenging draw at Royal Ascot hampering his chances, Night Raider’s inherent high cruising speed is expected to suit Goodwood’s sharp, left-handed course, giving him a solid opportunity to return to winning form.

Earlier in the day, Sea Of Kings is set to compete in the Coral Goodwood Handicap at 1:50 p.m., aiming to capitalize on his stamina as he tackles two-and-a-half miles for the first time. The lightly raced four-year-old has exhibited promise in competitive handicap events last season and posted an encouraging comeback when finishing second over a shorter distance at Doncaster. Although softer ground conditions at Pontefract were unfavorable, the combination of the longer trip and presumably firmer surface at Goodwood should play to his strengths.

Both entries reflect Wathnan Racing’s strategic focus on targeting major festival races and building on their recent successes in British flat racing with horses suited to the unique challenges of Goodwood’s track layout and conditions.
