A New Jersey man remains in critical condition after a cliff-jumping accident on Italy’s Amalfi Coast earlier this month. Jacob Fleig, an engineering student from Berlin Township, was injured on October 5 while on vacation with his fiancée, local reports indicated.

Details about the circumstances of the accident and the height of the fall have not been disclosed. Following the incident, Fleig underwent several life-saving surgeries and is currently in intensive care at a hospital in Italy.

His family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds aimed at transferring Fleig back to the United States for further medical treatment. As of Saturday evening, the campaign had raised more than $47,000.

Jimmy Dorner, Fleig’s brother, described him as a person whose vibrant personality deeply affects those around him. Dorner emphasized Jacob’s joyous and charismatic nature in the appeal for support.

Efforts continue to secure the necessary resources to provide Fleig with advanced care closer to home.
