Six days after a gas cylinder explosion in Ashulia, Savar, which resulted in eight fatalities and injured at least 25 people, police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident. Authorities have registered a case against six factory officials and employees, along with 12 unidentified individuals, on charges related to improper storage and transportation of flammable materials.

The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement officials reviewing CCTV footage and analyzing evidence recovered from the site, including burnt vehicles. Police are actively conducting operations to apprehend the suspects who remain at large.

In addition to police efforts, separate inquiry committees established by the fire service and the Dhaka district administration are investigating the cause of the explosion. However, neither committee has submitted its findings as of this date.

Legal representatives have expressed concern over the delay in making arrests and have called for greater accountability, including from the factory’s owner and managing director. The authorities continue to face pressure to resolve the case promptly as investigations proceed.
