Munich prosecutors have closed a criminal investigation into an incident last February in which hundreds of passengers were stranded overnight on planes at Munich Airport due to heavy snowfall. Authorities determined there was insufficient evidence to pursue any criminal charges related to the event.

The Landshut public prosecutor's office confirmed the case was dropped following a review of the police report. The inquiry had been initiated after an “apparently uninvolved third party” submitted a request through the State Criminal Investigation Office in Munich, prompting police to examine the circumstances surrounding the delay. However, no formal complaints were received from passengers affected by the disruption, according to the Upper Bavaria North police headquarters.

The snowfall had caused widespread flight cancellations and delays, forcing passengers to remain on board their aircraft overnight. In response, Lufthansa Group, whose flights were impacted, stated that all affected customers were offered financial compensation for the inconvenience.

This resolution concludes the legal review of the incident, with authorities citing a lack of prosecutable offenses connected to the handling of the situation at Munich Airport.
