Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs has reaffirmed the continuation of purchase limits on bottled water across central markets and cooperative society branches, maintaining a maximum allowance of five cartons per customer per invoice. The ministry emphasized that this restriction will remain firmly enforced, with no exceptions granted, as part of ongoing efforts to regulate sales amid current conditions.

An official from the ministry’s Cooperative Sector indicated that the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies has been instructed to ensure all cooperative outlets adhere strictly to these limits and to discourage bulk buying. The primary goal of this measure is to prevent panic purchasing and stockpiling, which can place undue strain on supply chains and lead to crowded retail environments.

Authorities clarified that the limits are precautionary and not a response to any actual shortage in bottled water production or distribution. Water manufacturers continue to operate at full capacity, regularly delivering sufficient quantities to both markets and cooperative societies. Instead, the restrictions are intended to promote orderly purchasing behavior and guarantee equitable access to bottled water for all consumers.

The ministry further stated that it will continue monitoring compliance among cooperatives and will take necessary action against entities that fail to implement the rules. Citizens and residents were also urged to buy only the quantities needed, avoid hoarding, and refrain from spreading unverified information that might cause unnecessary public alarm.
