Noah Lyles was forced to withdraw from the 200-meter final at the US Track Championships in New York after pulling up mid-race, resulting in a rare defeat in his specialist event. The setback opened the door for Garrett Kaalund of the University of Southern California to claim the title with a time of 20.04 seconds.

The championships, held at Icahn Stadium, also featured a dominant performance from Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, the reigning world champion, who secured her second consecutive national title in the women’s 200 meters. Jefferson-Wooden finished with a season-best time of 21.69 seconds.

Other notable winners on the final day included Nia Akins and Cooper Lutkenhaus in the women’s and men’s 800 meters, respectively. In the 5,000 meters, Emily Mackay took the women’s event while Vincent Ciattei won the men’s race. Field events saw Jordan Geist take the men’s shot put title, Vashti Cunningham capture the women’s high jump crown, Chris Nilsen prevail in the men’s pole vault, Valerie Sion win the women’s discus, and Anna Cockrell secure victory in the women’s 400 hurdles.

The men’s 400 hurdles title went to Christopher Robinson, while the meet concluded with Cordell Tinch edging out competitors in a closely contested 110-meter hurdles final, winning with a lean at the finish line. The US Track Championships showcased a mix of established stars and emerging talent across a range of disciplines.
